On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in the Cumberland County Courthouse, we welcome everyone to witness Rhonda Renee Sutton Bryant plead guilty to all charges, one day shy of 17 months since her poor choices nearly took my husband's life. There is no plea agreement, and it is our understanding that the State will ask for the maximum sentence. Judge Claire Hill will preside and decide what sort of accountability is appropriate for Bryant's criminal actions, which had permanent and catastrophic consequences to an innocent man who was trying to go fishing, and later take me out to dinner and a movie (Skyfall). I hope that Judge Hill takes this crime seriously so that the message will foster faith in our system: justice is meant to promote the common welfare. We teach our children about responsibility and that we have a duty not to cause harm unto others. This is a morality-based principle around which many of our laws are created, and in order to work, they must be enforced.
Our deepest thanks go out to you who have supported us. We couldn't have gotten this far without you!
"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." Elie Wiesel

Through the work you've done and your compelling (and detailed) testimony in court today some amount of justice has been done. You did wonderful.
