ABC News Feature Story on Jeremy Bruns and Update

Reporter Nicole Carr and Cameraman Larry Chavis covered our story. We are grateful for their work because they did an excellent job: emotional, compelling, fair, and puissant (add that word to your Factor, Mr. Bill O'Reilly, or fit it into a segment, Mr. Stephen Colbert).

We are pleased to tell you that the District Attorney seems to be taking this case seriously. Mr. Billy West said that two months in jail is not acceptable to the state. (It was the judge's recommendation in the pretrial conference.) The sentence remains in the judge's discretion, and it must be adjudicated within the structured sentencing; the assignment of the judge is not yet set. Rhonda Bryant has decided not to plead guilty without the two-month deal, so it is unclear when there will be a plea or a trial, but we anticipate the resolution will come in 2-8 weeks. It baffles us why in such a clear case she would waste more of the taxpayers' resources of time, money, and emotion when the outcome is certain and she will have to face the consequences for her actions.
